Asiatic Lloyd has returned to its favoured Chinese shipyard for a pair of conventionally fuelled boxship newbuilds.
Brokers are reporting the privately held German shipping line has ordered two more 7,100 teu vessels at Dalian Shipbuilding to go alongside another similar pair it ordered there six weeks ago. Alphaliner is reporting the latest ordered ships – priced at $91m each – will go on long-term charter to Hapag-Lloyd when they deliver in late 2027 and early 2028.
Asiatic Lloyd already controls six 2023–built and 2024-built ships of the SDARI Sealion 7100 design, all from the same Dalian yard.
Asiatic Lloyd is twin-headquartered in Singapore-and Hamburg, operating as part of the Bunnemann family’s AL Group, which also has interests in tankers, car carriers and dry bulk.
