Alex Gregg-Smith will take over the reins at Bureau Veritas Marine & Offshore from Matthieu de Tugny in the new year.
Gregg-Smith will relocate from Shanghai to Paris as he takes over the president role at the shipping class society, reporting to de Tugny, his predecessor in the role, who has now become executive vice-president, industrials and commodities at the French organisation.
De Tugny commented: “Alex has a unique background and the right experience for this role, having spent 20 years with Bureau Veritas across two periods, alongside leadership roles in shipowners and shipyards. His engagement and commitment to the maritime industry, and the role of class within it, are undeniable.”
