AD Ports Group has signed a Head of Terms Agreement with Advario, a global leader in tank storage and infrastructure solutions.

The agreement outlines plans to explore the establishment of a joint venture aimed at developing and operating green energy and liquid bulk storage projects within the UAE and internationally.

Under the proposed structure, the joint venture would be 51% owned by AD Ports Group and 49% by Advario. AD Ports Group will also collaborate with Advario’s local partner, Star Energy, as part of the initiative.

Should the joint venture proceed, Advario would oversee the construction of bulk storage tanks at Khalifa Port, along with associated pipeline infrastructure to serve clients located in KEZAD, the Middle East’s largest integrated industrial zone.

By capitalizing on KEZAD’s robust industrial ecosystem and infrastructure, the collaboration would not only strengthen AD Ports Group’s existing liquid bulk capabilities but also provide a platform for future investments in clean energy infrastructure. This includes hydrogen-based fuels such as ammonia and methanol, as well as other emerging alternative fuels.

Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, Managing Director and Group CEO of AD Ports Group, stated, that this potential joint venture aligns with our commitment to sustainable infrastructure development and supports the UAE’s vision to establish Abu Dhabi as a global hub for multi-fuel bunkering and sustainable energy solutions.

Bas Verkooijen, CEO of Advario, added that by joining forces in the UAE, the aim is to strengthen their role in advancing greener, more resilient supply chains across the region.

The joint venture would also explore international expansion, supporting liquid bulk storage and clean energy infrastructure projects across EMEA and beyond.

Key areas of focus include storage facilities, pipelines, jetties, and integrated energy infrastructure, contributing to AD Ports Group’s broader objective of reinforcing Abu Dhabi’s position in the global energy transition.
