ABS and Siemens Digital Industries Software have signed an MOU to accelerate the digital transformation of shipbuilding and maritime classification. The partnership will advance product lifecycle management (PLM) tools and support data-driven decision-making from vessel design through construction and operation.

The agreement combines ABS’s Freedom
PLM platform with Siemens’ Xcelerator portfolio to meet evolving maritime regulations and support simulation-driven compliance and classification.
Patrick Ryan, ABS CTO, said the partnership will help streamline Class processes and support more data-rich design workflows. Joe Bohman, EVP at Siemens DISW, highlighted the importance of integrating classification into digital ship design and production, calling the collaboration a key step in advancing maritime digitalization.
