ABS, ENEOS, NYK Line, and SEACOR Holdings have launched a joint study to develop a methanol bunkering and supply network along the U.S. Gulf Coast. The goal is to establish the first commercial-scale ship-to-ship methanol bunkering operations in the U.S.

Low-carbon methanol, including bio-based and renewable sources, offers an easy-to-handle alternative fuel with potential to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, supporting IMO’s 2050 net-zero target.

ENEOS will source low-carbon methanol through its C2X project in Louisiana. NYK will provide technical expertise from its LNG bunkering experience. SEACOR will contribute vessel operations, design, and construction capabilities. ABS will deliver class and regulatory support.

The initiative aims to advance carbon-neutral shipping and promote a sustainable maritime future.
