ABS has granted Approval in Principle (AIP) for HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering’s (HD KSOE) advanced ammonia vent gas treatment system, also endorsed by the Liberian International Ship and Corporate Registry (LISCR).
The system uses compact scrubbers to safely treat ammonia fuel released during purging, maintaining safe concentrations before discharge and minimizing wastewater production. ABS reviewed the design based on class requirements and IMO Interim Guidance.
