ABB is supplying 1,500 NINVA™ non-invasive temperature sensors to Swedish company eMarine. These sensors will be integrated into eMarine’s energy management systems for cruise and cargo vessels worldwide, marking the first use of NINVA technology in the marine sector.

The sensors optimize heat recovery and manage cooling water and ventilation systems onboard. This enables lower fuel consumption, measurable energy savings, and reduced CO₂ emissions. Designed for marine conditions, the NINVA sensors withstand vibrations up to 4g while maintaining accuracy without perforating pipes.

Ola Persson, CEO of eMarine, said the partnership allows the company to provide smarter tools for decarbonization. Dr. Guruprasad Sosale from ABB noted this is the first deployment of NINVA in shipping, helping drive energy efficiency across the industry.

The non-invasive design simplifies temperature measurement, eliminates risks from pipe perforation, and delivers performance equivalent to traditional thermowells.
