Celsius Tankers, part of Danish owner Celsius Shipping, has placed an order for an additional 180,000 cu m LNG carrier with South Korea’s Samsung Heavy Industries.
The deal brings Celsius Tankers’ LNG fleet to 24 vessels, bolstering the company’s ongoing expansion in the segment.
Samsung Heavy Industries confirmed the contract in a regulatory filing earlier, noting the value at around KRW 368bn ($255m) but did not disclose the buyer at the time.
Celsius Shipping already has a large LNG carrier newbuilding program underway in China and South Korea, with more than 10 vessels of the same 180,000 cu m size planned or under construction.
The latest unit is scheduled for delivery by the end of May 2028.
