Italian cabling giant Prysmian has acquired a Spain-based submarine cable installation specialist, ACSM.
ACSM, based in Vigo, also undertakes subsea surveying, route planning, and seabed preparation activities. It operates in 60 countries and has over 350 employees.
The transaction value is €169m ($200.6m), factoring in €24m ($28.5m) in capex for a vessel delivered to ACSM in the fourth quarter of 2025. The transaction was funded using cash available on Prysmian’s balance sheet. The acquisition was closed on Monday, February 10.
Prysmian stated that integrating ACSM would broaden Prysmian’s range of solutions for energy and telecom customers and accelerate the full vertical integration of its submarine activities.
“When the world thinks of submarine cables, they think of Prysmian, and this acquisition is another significant step forward. We gain the expertise of over 350 experts in subsea surveying and preparation, three dedicated vessels, and essential equipment, while strengthening our position as a one-stop shop for customers,” said Raul Gil, EVP of transmission at Prysmian.
“Joining forces with a global leader like Prysmian will allow us to further strengthen our capabilities, ensuring we continue to provide outstanding value to our partners and clients worldwide,” added Jose Cubeiro, ACSM CEO.
