Imabari Shipbuilding has delivered the 64,000 deadweight ton (DWT) bulk carrier BELFOX, built at Shin Kasado Dockyard Co., Ltd..

The vessel is an ocean-going handymax bulk carrier constructed under Common Structural Rules (CSR BC & OT). Each cargo hold features topside and hopper tanks, enabling it to carry a wide range of cargoes, including bulk commodities, grain, coal, ore, cement, steel coils, and long steel products. Cargo handling is enhanced with wide hatch openings, folding-type hatch covers, and four sets of deck cranes. BELFOX can also transport goods in compliance with the IMSBC and IMDG codes.

Environmental compliance is a key feature. The vessel meets MARPOL and Ballast Water Management Convention standards. It exceeds Phase 2 CO₂ emission requirements and is already designed to meet Phase 3 standards. The ship also includes a ballast water treatment system and an Inventory of Hazardous Materials in line with the Ship Recycling Convention.

High propulsion performance is achieved through energy-saving devices, a high-efficiency propeller, and low-friction hull paint.

Ship Specifications:

  • Length: 199.98 m | Width: 32.24 m | Depth: 19.30 m

  • Deadweight: 63,541 tons | Gross Tonnage: 36,278

  • Main Engine: 6S50ME-C9.7 | Service Speed: ~14 knots

  • Class: NK | Flag: Panama

BELFOX strengthens Imabari’s lineup of modern, efficient, and environmentally compliant handymax bulk carriers.
