Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding (SWS) has completed the atrium dome interior of China’s second domestically built large cruise ship, H1509. The milestone was achieved six months earlier than on the first vessel.

The work marks the near completion of the ship’s most complex public space. It also clears the way for the next phase, including equipment installation and commissioning.

The atrium dome is the visual centerpiece of the ship. It supports the structure and manages passenger flow. It also integrates themed spaces and commercial leisure areas. These combined functions make it one of the most demanding elements in cruise ship construction.

H1509 features an extended hull design. The atrium spans a wider area and requires higher structural strength than its predecessor. The project demanded high precision and close coordination across teams.

The early completion highlights SWS’s growing capability in large cruise ship construction. It also reflects the company’s focus on innovation, efficiency, and precision in complex shipbuilding projects.
