The Suez Canal Authority (SCA) and the Namibian Ports Authority have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen cooperation in port development, maritime construction, and training.

The ceremony took place at the SCA headquarters in Ismailia and was attended by Adm. Ossama Rabiee, Chairman and Managing Director of the SCA, Mrs. Nangula Hamunyela, Chairperson of the Namibian Ports Authority, and senior officials from both organizations.

The MoU focuses on exchanging expertise, promoting joint projects, and advancing maritime training through the SCA’s academies and simulation facilities. It also covers sales and chartering of marine units and other maritime services.

Adm. Rabiee emphasized the SCA’s readiness to expand into international markets and deepen ties with African partners. He highlighted the successful redevelopment of the Port of Sirye in Libya as an example of the SCA’s overseas project experience.

Mrs. Hamunyela said the agreement reflects strong Egyptian-Namibian relations and will support Namibia’s ambitious port development plans. She noted that SCA’s technology and expertise could accelerate local development while reducing reliance on foreign personnel and know-how.

The MoU was signed by Eng. Nashaat Nasr Eldin, Director of the SCA Transit Department, and Mr. Andrew Kanime, CEO of the Namibian Ports Authority. The visit included tours of SCA-affiliated shipyards, maritime units, the Floating Pontoons and Concrete Buoys Factory, and the Maritime Training and Simulation Academy.
