Kuehne+Nagel and Swiss International Air Lines have strengthened their partnership to accelerate more sustainable aviation. The companies signed a Memorandum of Understanding focused on sustainability projects and the adoption of innovative technologies.
A key pillar of the agreement is support for sustainable aviation fuel produced by Synhelion. The Swiss cleantech company produces synthetic fuels using solar energy. Kuehne+Nagel, SWISS, and Swiss WorldCargo have agreed to a long-term offtake arrangement that gives Synhelion the planning security needed to scale production.
Under a five-year agreement starting in 2027, Kuehne+Nagel will purchase Synhelion’s SAF from SWISS for its air cargo shipments. The move supports Kuehne+Nagel’s decarbonisation goals and offers customers a way to reduce their CO₂ footprint.
Kuehne+Nagel said scaling synthetic SAF is essential to meeting aviation climate targets. SWISS added that long-term partnerships are critical to bringing scarce and costly SAF technologies to market.
The agreement marks the first commercial offtake of Synhelion’s synthetic aviation fuel and signals a shared commitment to advancing sustainable air transport.
