Norway’s Grieg Connect is widening its Nordic reach with the acquisition of Wellamo Data, a long-established Finnish provider of port-management information systems. The move gives the Bergen-based digital solutions specialist its first foothold in mainland Finland as it pushes to build a unified PMIS offering across the region.
Wellamo Data has been supplying Finnish ports and terminal operators with operational, invoicing and reporting tools for years. Grieg Connect said the takeover provides a stronger base for serving Finnish customers and fits with its plan to establish local teams in key markets. The company will now recruit in Finland and work directly with ports to shape future services.
Company founder Atte Rotko will join Grieg Connect in a leading operational role. “This creates a long-term Nordic foundation for PMIS development in Finland,” Rotko said. “Grieg Connect brings broad Nordic experience and a solid platform for further development. I look forward to contributing to the next phase of digital development for Finnish ports.”
CEO Espen Ranvik said the acquisition marks a long-term commitment. “Finland becomes one of our main bases going forward,” he said. “With more than 20 years of experience delivering PMIS solutions, this gives us a strong starting point to support Finnish ports with continuity and experience from across the Nordic region.”
Grieg Connect, part of the Grieg Group, currently delivers PMIS and wider digital services to ports in Norway, Sweden, the Faroe Islands and Åland.
