Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) is expanding beyond shipping to secure long-term revenue. This move is part of its BLUE ACTION 2035 strategy. A key focus is the tank terminal business.

In June 2025, MOL acquired 100% of LBC Tank Terminals, one of the world’s largest independent operators. LBC has seven facilities across Europe and the U.S. It serves chemical manufacturers and energy companies at both export and import ports.

MOL’s acquisition links LBC terminals with its ocean transport of liquid cargo. MOL operates one of the world’s largest fleets of chemical tankers. Together, they create a “Total Chemical Logistics Service”, offering integrated and flexible supply chain solutions.

MOL plans to expand LBC’s terminal capacity and improve efficiency. EBITDA is expected to exceed $200 million by 2027.

The acquisition strengthens MOL’s position as a global chemical logistics leader. It also prepares the company to handle next-generation energy cargoes, including ammonia and CO₂. MOL aims to become a comprehensive infrastructure partner for liquid cargo, integrating onshore and maritime logistics.
