Campbell Johnston Clark (CJC) has opened a new office in Genoa. The move follows an agreement to engage a team of maritime lawyers specialising in English and Italian law.

The international law firm already operates offices in London, Newcastle, Singapore, and Miami. A seven-strong team from London and Genoa will join the firm, led by Enrico Vergani. Vergani has also been appointed as a CJC director.

Recognised for his shipping expertise in Italy by The Chambers & Partners and The Legal 500 EMEA, Vergani specialises in project financing, litigation, international arbitration, and shipbuilding/ship conversion contract law.

CJC’s London office will also include Giulia Morelli (commercial litigation, arbitration, sanctions), Marco Pirino (aviation, customs), and trainee Filippo Vergani. In Genoa, the local team will be led by Marco Mastropasqua (20+ years of market experience), joined by Luna Montervino Lisi and Katya Barbieri. The office is located in Galleria Mazzini, the heart of Genoa’s maritime district.

Alistair Johnston, Director of CJC, said: “Opening in Genoa is a natural progression and reinforces our ambitions in maritime law. It strengthens our long-standing relationships with owners, brokers, and insurers in Italy.”

Enrico Vergani added: “We are proud to bring CJC’s expertise to Genoa. Our goal is to connect London and Genoa, two historic hubs for marine insurance, and expand our shipping-focused legal services.”
