Jebel Ali sets breakbulk record of 630,000 tonnes

DP World’s Jebel Ali Port set a new breakbulk record in October 2025, handling 630,000 tonnes, the highest monthly total in nearly 20 years.

The surge reflects strong industrial and construction activity in the UAE, with increased imports of iron and steel for projects like the Dubai Metro Blue Line and DWC airport expansion, along with higher sugar exports.

Breakbulk volumes rose steadily after 2024, when they reached 5.36 million tonnes, up 23% year-on-year. Shahab Al Jassmi, DP World GCC Chief Commercial Officer, said the milestone shows businesses’ confidence in Jebel Ali as a reliable cargo gateway. He noted the port’s role in supporting infrastructure growth while keeping supply chains efficient.

Breakbulk cargo, including heavy and oversized materials for large projects, benefits from Jafza’s integrated ecosystem and DP World’s global logistics network. The record highlights Jebel Ali’s ability to handle complex cargo across regional and international supply chains.

The achievement comes amid Jebel Ali’s ongoing transformation into a multipurpose port. Over the past decade, the port has consistently set records across containers, RoRo, and bulk cargo, reflecting multi-cargo growth and flexibility.

Jebel Ali continues to support Dubai’s Economic Agenda D33 and the national Operation 300Bn strategy by underpinning the UAE’s construction, manufacturing, and infrastructure sectors.
