

Three persons were killed in a fire that broke out on a Maersk Line-operated container ship on 7 November.
The explosion on the Costamare Shipping-owned 2014-built 4,957 TEU Kyparissia happened during unloading operations at Malaysia’s Tanjung Pelepas port. The cause of
the fire is still being investigated.
Bernama reported that the blast occurred in a container in the underhatch area of Block 5 of Kyparissia, which serves Maersk’s Far East-West Africa service. The deceased were a 59-year-old Malaysian man, a Filipino man in his 40s, and a British man also in his 40s.
