Houston-based engineering and construction services giant KBR has been awarded a contract for detailed engineering services for the Bul Hanine oil and gas field in Qatar.
Under the terms of the contract, KBR will provide detailed design and engineering services for QatarEnergy’s Bul Hanine EPIC project, situated approximately 120 km east of Doha. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Bul Hanine is one of Qatar’s significant offshore oilfields and a vital contributor to the country’s production portfolio.
This initiative by QatarEnergy aims to extend the field’s production life, increase its capacity, and integrate advanced technologies to maximise recovery.
KBR stated that this deal is part of its continued focus on increasing efforts in the global south, where energy production remains in high demand.
In late October, CNOOC subsidiary China Offshore Oil Engineering Co (COOEC) signed an EPC contract for work on QatarEnergy’s Bul Hanine offshore oil field. The project contract is valued at around $4bn took effect from October 2025. The scheduled completion date is set for June 2031.
