Technology group Wärtsilä has signed a 30-month operation and maintenance (O&M) agreement to ensure a stable power supply on Indonesia’s Lombok island. Lombok, a major tourist destination, depends on local power generation for reliable electricity. Wärtsilä’s expertise in O&M will help keep the island’s grid running efficiently.

The agreement, booked in Q3 2025, was signed with PT PLN Nusantara Power Services. It covers a 138 MW plant powered by 13 Wärtsilä 34DF dual-fuel engines and a steam turbine generator.

“This is Indonesia’s first combined-cycle gas engine power plant,” said Mr. Jakfar Sadiq, President Director of PT PLN Nusantara Power Services. “It supplies about 60% of Lombok’s electricity, so efficiency and reliability are essential.”

Wärtsilä and PT PLN Nusantara Power Services will jointly operate and maintain the facility. The partnership aims to boost productivity, performance, and local staff competence.

“With this agreement, we give the customer peace of mind,” said Erwin Vanderkerff, Director of Regional Operations Australasia at Wärtsilä Energy. “Wärtsilä ensures the plant runs at optimal efficiency and reliability, allowing PLN Nusantara Power Services to focus on customer service.”

PT PLN Nusantara Power Services has a long-standing partnership with Wärtsilä, having installed several power plants using Wärtsilä technology.
