Wärtsilä will expand the Delta P, Inc. (DPI) power plant in Puerto Princesa, Palawan. The project will add two Wärtsilä 32 engines, raising the plant’s capacity from 30 MW to 44.4 MW. This increase will help DPI meet its power supply agreement with the Palawan Electric Cooperative.

The project was booked in Q2 2025 on a partial EPC basis. Wärtsilä will deliver all engine modifications and an upgraded automation system.

The existing plant, built in 2016, has four Wärtsilä 32 engines. Each new engine will operate about 6,000 hours per year. The expansion will provide stable electricity to one of the country’s largest off-grid areas.

“Palawan faces power shortages,” said Eric Omamalin, President of Delta P. “These engines will help us meet demand and comply with our power supply agreement.”

Wärtsilä will handle design, engineering, mechanical upgrades, and supply auxiliaries such as radiators, fuel booster units, and medium-voltage switchgear. They will also manage installation and commissioning.

“This project strengthens our long-term relationship with Delta P and Vivant Corporation,” said Ossi Ylinen, Managing Director of Wärtsilä Philippines. “Local support ensures efficient operation and reliable power for Palawan residents.”

The engines will arrive in summer 2026, and the plant will be fully operational by August 2026.
