Kuehne+Nagel Strengthens Cross-Border Capabilities with Acquisition of Farrow, Canada’s Largest Customs Agency

Global logistics giant Kuehne+Nagel, the world’s largest third-party logistics provider (3PL), has announced the successful acquisition of Farrow, a well-established family-owned customs broker based in Windsor, Ontario. This strategic move immediately enhances Kuehne+Nagel’s profitability and expands its customs offerings at the Canadian and Mexican borders.

In a recent news release, Hansjorg Rodi, responsible for road logistics at Kuehne+Nagel International AG, highlighted the significance of the acquisition, stating, “With Farrow, we acquire a leading, diversified customs brokerage and logistics company that brings with it a proven track record of success, a growth-oriented mindset, and significant business scalability.”

Founded in 1911 by Russell Farrow, Farrow has grown to become Canada’s largest independently owned customs agency, boasting 830 employees across 41 locations in the U.S. and Canada. The company managed over 1.5 million customs entries last year, showcasing its robust presence in the industry.

Chairman Rick Farrow expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “We are excited to take our successful long-time, family-owned business to the next level. This allows us to combine our extensive expertise in customs brokerage with the capabilities and global reach of Kuehne+Nagel, allowing us to provide extraordinary supply chain solutions for our customers, as well as creating new opportunities for career growth for our colleagues.”

While the financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed, the completion of the transaction is expected during the first quarter of 2024. Following the closing, Farrow will operate as a fully owned subsidiary of Kuehne+Nagel.

Headquartered in Switzerland, Kuehne+Nagel boasts a global presence with over 80,000 employees at 1,300 locations in 100 countries. The company, recognized as one of the top air and sea logistics providers by gross tonnage and revenue, serves 400,000 customers worldwide. In addition to air and sea logistics, Kuehne+Nagel provides comprehensive solutions in road and contract logistics.
