ShipIT Conference 2025

The 11th ShipIT Conference 2025, organized by BOUSSIAS and AMMITEC, brought together leading figures of the maritime and shipping community to explore the sector’s ongoing digital transformation and future challenges.

Held in Athens, the event drew strong participation from industry professionals who engaged in discussions on artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, decarbonization, and innovative technologies that are shaping the next era of shipping.

Throughout the conference, speakers emphasized how intelligent tools such as automation, IoT, data analytics, and digital twins are driving vessel performance optimization and predictive maintenance. At the same time, the growing importance of cybersecurity in a connected maritime environment was underlined, with experts stressing the need for robust operational technology security, real-time monitoring, and effective incident response strategies.

A strong focus was also placed on the role of digitalization in achieving decarbonization, as data-driven insights increasingly help shipowners reduce fuel consumption, improve energy efficiency, and comply with evolving environmental regulations.

The panel discussion “A.I. at the Helm: Unlocking Operational Advantage in Shipping” was moderated by Antonia Saratsopoulou of Container News and included contributions from Katerina Raptaki, Ioannis Rizos, and Themistoklis Sardis. The speakers examined how artificial intelligence can support smarter decision-making and enhance operational efficiency, while also addressing challenges related to data integration and the importance of maintaining human oversight.
