The Indonesian arm of Italian energy major Eni has exercised a second extension option for one of Ventura Offshore’s rigs.
Ventura said that Eni Indonesia exercised the second of four optional wells in Indonesia for the 2012-built semisub SSV Catarina.
The exercise of this first optional well is expected to keep the rig utilised into the first quarter of 2026 and increase the firm backlog of the company by approximately $10m. If Eni exercises the remaining two options, the rig could remain in Indonesia through the second quarter of 2026.
The rig started working for Eni in August 2024. Apart from the two well options in Indonesia, the Italian firm has a fixed-priced option for one well in Vietnam.
The SSV Catarina became part of the Ventura Offshore fleet in June 2024, when it was purchased from Umas 1 for $105m.
