Evangelos Marinakis-led Capital Maritime Group has been linked to the latest round of feeder containership contracts at HD Hyundai Mipo Dockyard in South Korea.
Shipbuilding sources said the Greek owner is behind orders for two 2,800 teu units priced at around $56.9m each and one 1,800 teu ship costing about $45m. Deliveries are expected in the third and fourth quarters of 2027.
While the contracts were disclosed to the Korean Stock Exchange under “Oceania-based” ownership, analysts at Alphaliner noted the designation is frequently used for Capital-controlled entities structured via offshore setups.
The move lifts Capital’s feeder newbuilding tally at Mipo to about 20 vessels. The programme spans a mix of 1,800 teu Bangkokmax and 2,800 teu “Chittagongmax designs, reflecting the owner’s growing focus on the smaller boxship segment.
All of the newbuilds are said to be tied up on long-term charters with French liner major CMA CGM.
