DP World has renewed a long-term agreement with Hapag-Lloyd for container handling operations at the Port of Santos, extending their collaboration for the next ten years. The deal secures continuity of services and strengthens both companies’ presence in Brazil’s largest port.
To meet rising demand, DP World is advancing an expansion plan at its Santos terminal. On August 21, 2025, the company broke ground on quay extension works that will add 190 meters to the existing quay, increasing its length to 1,290 meters. Scheduled for completion in August 2026, the project will allow the terminal to handle larger vessels and boost annual capacity to 1.7 million TEUs.
The investment also includes new container-handling equipment, reinforcing DP World Santos’ position as one of Brazil’s most modern private multipurpose terminals. For Hapag-Lloyd, the renewed agreement ensures predictability and efficiency as it continues to grow its presence in the Brazilian market.
