The Spanish tile industry utilizes the Port of Valencia as one of the primary gateways for distributing its products to various countries.
During 2024, Valenciaport managed export operations for these goods to a total of 359 ports worldwide.
The ceramic product traffic report by the Port Authority of Valencia demonstrates that last year, goods were loaded at ports in 149 countries, involving the movement of 80,624 full containers, which transported over 2 million tonnes of goods.
Although most operations, totaling 191, are destined for Spanish ports, the US market ranks second in terms of tile export significance.
With 182 operations, 290,420 exported tonnes and 12,916 TEUs, traffic concentrates primarily in New York, Miami, and Los Angeles ports, which receive 6,799 containers, though shipments also reach more uncommon destinations such as Honolulu, which received one TEU.
The British market represents the second most important export market for Valenciaport. During 2024, 68 operations were conducted, involving 128,569 tonnes and 4,349 containers, which primarily reached London and Liverpool ports.
In the European market, Italian ports constitute another significant destination for tiles departing Valencia, with 64 operations and 76,517 tonnes.
Beyond traditional American and European markets, Australia and Brazil are the countries receiving the most ceramic products from Valenciaport.
During 2024, both countries received 66 shipments from the tile sector, totaling 27,715 tonnes and 1,195 TEUs for Australia, and 6,076 tonnes and 378 containers for Brazil.
The Asian market also maintains significant presence, particularly in China and Turkey, with 58 and 57 operations respectively, and over 20,000 tonnes of exports between both destinations.
In this geographical region, there are even more distinctive locations, such as Azerbaijan, Cambodia, and Taiwan, where vessels carrying containers loaded or transshipped at Valenciaport have arrived.
On the African continent, Algeria and Morocco account for most ports receiving tiles shipped from Valencia, although shipments also reach more unusual destinations such as Cape Verde, Senegal, and Nigeria.
The tile trade departing from the Port of Valencia extends across the global map, with significant presence in cities such as New York, where 2,681 containers arrived in 2024, and London, with 2,111.
The Australian port of Sydney represents another destination for Castellón tiles, with 647 TEUs annually, but there are also lesser-known destinations, such as Caucedo in the Dominican Republic, where 2,955 containers were exported.
Dakar, in Senegal, represents another location where a substantial number of TEUs arrived, totaling 1,667, but Valenciaport also dispatched containers to the Bermuda Islands and Haiti, with containers reaching Hamilton and Cap Haitien ports. In Barbados, over 6,400 kilometers from Valencia, 24 containers of Castellón tiles were exported last year, and 19 arrived at Nassau port in Grand Bahama.
