Beginning October 1st, the digital release procedure for container imports will commence operations on the German Ports IT platform under the designation Secure Release Order.
The implementation will occur in three phases. Platform operators DAKOSY AG and dbh Logistics IT AG are demonstrating the significance and scope of this centralized digitalization solution while minimizing risks for all participating companies.
Marco Molitor, CEO of dbh Logistics IT AG. DAKOSY CEO Ulrich Wrage stated that German seaports constitute critical infrastructure and the objective is providing all stakeholders a secure transition while strengthening long-term import process resilience.
The first phase begins October 1st with carriers, who will be able to release their containers PIN-free in Hamburg, Bremerhaven, and Wilhelmshaven ports via the German Ports IT platform.
The second phase, running through November 2, focuses on targeted onboarding of freight forwarders, importers, and carriers.
The third phase will begin November 3 with mandatory complete SRO process implementation for all importers, starting with two terminals (one in Hamburg and one in Bremerhaven or Wilhelmshaven).
Beginning November 17, the SRO will be progressively implemented at all remaining terminals.
The goal is enabling smooth and successive market launch for all involved parties.
There should be no disadvantages regardless of size, role, or digitalization degree. The gradual introduction provides everyone opportunities to familiarize themselves with the new release process and digital pickup authorization while effectively implementing necessary processes.
