Drewry’s Intra-Asia Container Index (IACI) climbed 5% in the first half of September, reaching US$611 per FEU as Japan International Freight Forwarders Association (JIFFA) reported. The rate is still 9% lower than the same period last year. Drewry expects prices to stay steady through the second half of the month.

Spot rates were mixed across major lanes. Busan–Shanghai and Ho Chi Minh City–Shanghai held flat at US$98 and US$39 per TEU. Jakarta–Shanghai dropped 15% to US$35 per TEU. Shanghai–Jawaharlal Nehru jumped 17% to US$1,663, while Shanghai–Singapore rose 4% to US$767. Shanghai–Tanjung Pelepas slipped 10% to US$922. Shanghai–Yokohama inched up 2% to US$761, and Yokohama–Shanghai climbed 7% to US$77 per TEU.

The IACI, published every two weeks, tracks spot rates across 18 major intra-Asia lanes, excluding terminal handling charges.
