According to DynaLiners, Russia’s Aurora Line has launched its first voyage along the Northern Sea Route (NSR), marking a milestone for Russian container shipping. The 2,100 TEU vessel will sail from St. Petersburg to Shanghai, calling at Shandong, Ningbo, Taicang, and Guangzhou (Nansha) before returning.
This is reported to be the first full NSR transit by a Russian container line. Until now, Chinese carriers have been the most active on the route. Aurora Line expects the St. Petersburg–Shanghai leg to take 30 days, cutting transit time in half compared with the traditional route, which can take 60–74 days.
