Valenciaport traffic strengthens growth during August

Import and export traffic at Valenciaport surpassed 6.5 million tonnes in August, representing a 2.5% increase over the corresponding month last year.

Year-to-date, nearly 54 million tonnes (-0.56%) have transited through the three terminals; examining full year-on-year data, traffic volume already exceeds 80 million tonnes (+0.47%).

Evaluating container movements, the Statistical Office of the Port Authority of Valencia reports that during August, Valenciaport processed 493,455 TEUs representing an 8.05% increase compared to August 2024.

This figure reaches 3.8 million TEUs when referencing accumulated traffic between January and August (+4.75%). In year-on-year terms, 5.6 million containers were processed (+7.82%).

August delivered positive automotive market figures. During the eighth month, 31,276 vehicles (+12.28%) were loaded and unloaded at Sagunto and Valencia terminals, although cumulative totals since January stood at 325,088 units (-13.97%).

Statistics reflect regular passenger traffic trends, which reached 141,992 passengers in August (+0.69%), exceeding the 104,834 cruise passengers (-18.61%).

Year-on-year data a crucial trend indicator demonstrate that 834,974 people (+1.03%) utilized regular lines departing from or arriving at Valenciaport, while cruise passengers totaled 780,580 (-6.20%).

China represents the international market exchanging the most cargo traffic with Valenciaport, both in tonnage and TEU volume.

Through 2025, 550,983 containers (+18.81%) and over 5.8 million tonnes (+12.46%) have been processed with the Asian country.

The United States constitutes another high commercial traffic country with the Port Authority of Valencia, with 263,192 containers (+6.02%) and over 4 million tonnes (+10.21%).

Algeria ranks as the third largest market by TEUs (212,581 units and +42.76%), while Italy surpasses the US market in cargo weight, exceeding 4.6 million tonnes (+1.30%).
