Wärtsilä to support CLSICO LNG carriers with 15-Year agreement

Wärtsilä has signed a 15-year Lifecycle Agreement with China LNG Shipping (International) Co. Ltd. (CLSICO) covering three LNG carriers. The deal, effective August 2025, aims to boost operational reliability, optimise maintenance schedules, and extend the ‘time between overhauls’ for the vessels.

With LNG demand rising, carriers face growing pressure to meet tight schedules. Operational reliability is now more critical than ever. Andrew Johnston, General Manager at CLSICO, said, “Wärtsilä’s Lifecycle Agreements help us operate our LNG ships safely, reliably, and efficiently, while optimising maintenance and operations.”

The agreement allows CLSICO to leverage Wärtsilä’s Expert Insight predictive maintenance solution. This digital tool provides dynamic maintenance planning, 24/7 remote support, and the ability to predict potential issues before they occur, helping reduce unscheduled maintenance and costs.

Henrik Wilhelms, Director, Agreement Sales at Wärtsilä Marine, added, “Using service agreements, digital tools, and real-time data helps maximise uptime, optimise OPEX, and support fleets in meeting decarbonisation goals.”

The three vessels covered are the Al TUWAR, Al MAS’HABIYYAH, and FAT’H AL KHAIR. Each is around 300 metres long, with a 174,000 m³ capacity, and powered by two 8-cylinder and two 6-cylinder Wärtsilä 34DF dual-fuel engines. This agreement follows Wärtsilä’s 2023 Lifecycle Agreement with CLSICO for the DAPENG PRINCESS, the world’s largest shallow-draft LNG carrier.
