The Port of Antwerp-Bruges hosted Belgium’s first fully autonomous heavy-duty truck on public roads during its Port of the Future – Autonomous Summit. The event showcased innovations in land, sea, and air mobility, including drones, unmanned vessels, and autonomous container shuttles.

Einride demonstrated its cab-free truck, which uses radar, LIDAR, and cameras for 360° awareness. An AI-powered control tower monitors operations, allowing one operator to oversee multiple vehicles safely and efficiently. The demonstration follows successful deployments in Sweden and the U.S.

Port CEO Jacques Vandermeiren said autonomous solutions are already making operations smarter, safer, and greener. The summit also featured more than 20 live demonstrations, highlighting scalable technologies for European ports.

Officials from Belgium and the European Commission praised the initiative for advancing sustainable, efficient, and safe transport while strengthening Europe’s competitiveness.

Henrik Green, Einride CTO, noted the project as a model for public-private collaboration in decarbonizing logistics.
