According to Descartes Datamyne data from CBP, U.S. container imports from 10 key Asian economies reached 1.86 million TEUs in August, up 4.1% year-on-year, as Japan International Freight Forwarders Association (JIFFA) reported. Month-on-month, imports fell 2.9%.
From January to August, U.S. imports from these economies totaled 13.63 million TEUs, up 3.5%.
China remained the largest source despite a 5.5% drop to 994,958 TEUs. Vietnam surged 40.4% to 260,897 TEUs, while India rose 33% to 89,596 TEUs. South Korea dropped 9.8% to 191,073 TEUs, and Japan fell 7.3% to 32,886 TEUs.
Overall U.S. imports totaled 2.54 million TEUs in August, up 3.5% year-on-year.
