Boluda Shipping has acquired the intermodal rail freight business of Grupo Transfesa from the German government. The deal includes transport for industrial sectors, as well as maintenance, shunting, and terminal services.
With this acquisition, Boluda becomes Spain’s second-largest rail freight operator, after Renfe Mercancías. The company strengthens its rail network across the Iberian Peninsula and expands its door-to-door logistics services.
The move supports Boluda’s sustainability strategy by promoting green corridors and reducing CO₂ emissions. It also diversifies the company’s client services, integrating new routes and combining rail with more environmentally-friendly transport modes.
Ignacio Boluda, Executive Chairman, said: “Rail freight is a sustainable and efficient transport mode. It has become a strategic pillar of our intermodal logistics. We continue to expand customer services while supporting decarbonized supply chains.”
