CentrePort announces the arrival of the new MSC weekly shipping service commencing next February, establishing connections between New Zealand importers and exporters with East Coast America.

The MSC Eagle Service will initiate Wellington calls beginning next February, supplementing current North and South-East Asian and Trans-Tasman operations.

CentrePort Chief Executive Anthony Delaney states the new service, combined with other services calling at CentrePort, will benefit New Zealand exporters and importers alongside the central region’s economy.

The service will support numerous employment opportunities, including new positions at the Port.

Mr. Delaney notes customers can utilize CentrePort as a hub while accessing competitive transit times to markets including Australia, Asia, and the Americas through shipping services calling at the port.

MSC Eagle’s arrival, alongside other services, demonstrates CentrePort’s efficiency and productivity following our investments in port resilience and capacity. This also leverages investments in transport infrastructure connecting to the Port, encompassing rail, road, and Cook Strait Ferry services.

He added that this creates opportunities to continue supporting business and regional investment initiatives across central New Zealand, including distribution centers like Te Utanganui in the Manawatū and export production centers like Taranaki, Whanganui, and Marlborough.
