Mythos AI and LomarLabs launch bridge intelligence pilot

Mythos AI has successfully installed its Advanced Pilot Assistance System on the CB Pacific, a chemical tanker operated by CB Tankers, part of the Lomar group.

This installation represents a key milestone in the partnership with LomarLabs, Lomar Shipping’s corporate venture lab, and initiates a year-long trial to introduce advanced bridge intelligence to commercial shipping.

The project focuses on delivering intelligent navigation support rather than full automation.

APAS, powered by a radar-first perception system, integrates with existing ship radars, processes multiple data streams, and provides prioritized alerts to the crew. Unlike systems reliant on machine vision, this approach enhances decision-making, reduces distractions, and improves bridge navigation safety.

The installation was supported by CB Tankers’ technical team and overseen by Janine Mask, Senior Test Engineer at Mythos AI.

Geoff Douglass, CEO of Mythos AI, highlighted that this deployment is one of several commercial projects for Mythos AI and the first operational use of APAS on a tanker, while he stressed that the aim is not to replace crews but to enhance their capabilities.

Over the next 12 months, APAS will be tested in live operations, evaluating its performance in signal processing, collision prediction, safe navigation, and COLREG compliance. The CB Pacific, with its consistent routing and Furuno radar system, serves as an ideal platform to demonstrate practical benefits for mariners and shipowners.

For LomarLabs, this pilot exemplifies an innovation model focused on real-world execution. By providing technical oversight, vessel access, and project support, LomarLabs fosters deep-tech collaboration with startups through hands-on partnerships rather than fixed programs.

Stylianos Papageorgiou, Managing Director of LomarLabs, noted that Mythos AI’s radar-first architecture and modular autonomy demonstrate what’s achievable when there is support founders with trust, time, and access to the fleet.

The pilot aligns with Mythos AI’s commercial roadmap, supported by agreements with US commercial operators and growing interest from the defense sector.
