Neptune Pacific has announced the implementation of a new Bunker Adjustment Factor surcharge, which will take effect on all shipments from 1 October 2025.
The surcharge will apply to cargo moving between Australia, New Zealand, the South Pacific Islands, and the US West Coast, as well as across regional trades within the Pacific.
For shipments to and from the US West Coast, a charge of US$ 549 per TEU and US$ 31.37 per revenue ton will apply.
An additional Emissions Control Charge of US$ 25 per TEU will also be levied on all shipments on this route. Notably, reefer and dry bunker rates will be aligned on the US West Coast trade.
On intra-Pacific trades, the surcharge will vary by lane.
Shipments between Australia and the South Pacific Islands will incur US$ 355 per TEU (US% 20.88 per RVT), while shipments between Australia and New Zealand will be charged US$ 155 per TEU (US$ 9.12 per RVT).
Cargo moving between New Zealand and the South Pacific Islands will see a surcharge of US$ 247 per TEU (US$ 14.53 per RVT), while shipments from New Zealand to Australia will be charged US$ 250 per TEU (US$ 14.71 per RVT).
Inter-island shipments within the South Pacific will attract the highest surcharge at US$ 470 per TEU (US$ 27.65 per RVT).
Neptune Pacific noted that reefer containers will be subject to a trade coefficient of 1.5 times the dry rate, except on US trades where dry and reefer rates are aligned.
Separate bunker factors will apply to trades involving Asia, Europe, Africa, Norfolk Island, and Cook Islands, which the company will communicate independently.
