Crowley Stena Marine Solutions, the joint venture between Crowley and Stena Bulk, has received approval from the US Maritime Administration to operate the CS Anthem under the Tanker Security Program.
The 49,990-metric-ton, US-flagged medium-range tanker is crewed and managed by Crowley through a bareboat charter via the joint venture. It now joins Crowley-managed tankers Stena Imperative and Stena Impeccable in the program, replacing the Stena Immaculate.
Through this initiative, the CS Anthem and its crew will bolster MARAD’s mission of ensuring fuel transport readiness for the US Department of Defense, while enhancing the nation’s strategic sealift capacity.
Tucker Gilliam, vice president of fleet operations for Crowley Shipping, commented that the addition of the CS Anthem demonstrates a commitment to strengthening US maritime security and providing reliable, U.S.-crewed tanker capacity in support of national defense.
