Ivan Savvidis, majority shareholder of the Thessaloniki Port Authority, visited the port this week to review progress on ongoing infrastructure and investment projects, with a particular focus on Pier 6.
During his visit, Savvidis inspected the historic PAEGAE building, currently being redeveloped for modern business use, and met with OLTh management to receive updates on the next phases of the port’s investment and development strategy.
According to OLTh, the extension of Pier 6 will allow Thessaloniki to accommodate mainline container vessels of up to 24,000 TEU, significantly enhancing the port’s commercial capacity and reinforcing its role as a key hub in the international supply chain.
Meanwhile, the redevelopment of the PAEGAE building, a strategic investment by Dimera Land & Properties, will transform the site into a sustainable business centre accredited with a LEED Gold certificate. Upon completion, the building will host the new offices of Deloitte, as well as the Appeals Court of Thessaloniki and judicial services under Greece’s Ministry of Justice.
In a statement, OLTh noted that mr. Savvidis’ visit reflects his confidence in the dynamism and prospects of Thessaloniki Port Authority, as well as in the ongoing development process of the port.
The visit highlights OLTh’s continued efforts to expand capacity, modernise infrastructure, and position Thessaloniki as a leading gateway for international trade in the region.
