Blystad brings in new CEO

Norwegian shipowning outfit Blystad Group has appointed Rune Magnus Lundetræ as its new chief executive, effective this summer.
Lundetræ has nearly two decades of senior leadership experience in shipping and offshore. He was most recently chief of finance at Eldorado Drilling and previously served as chairman of Offshore Heavy Transport (OHT), a heavylift specialist that was once controlled by Blystad.
The Blystad family company, established by shipping veteran Arne Blystad, has long been active across several segments, including tankers, containerships and offshore supply vessels, and today counts a fleet of nearly 30 ships. Earlier this year, brokers reported that Blystad signed up for 3,000 teu containerships at Penglai Zhongbai Jinglu Ship Industry in China, worth about $129m, with deliveries from 2027.
Lundetræ takes over from Fredrik Platou, who spent 19 years at the Blystad Group, where he held various executive and board positions across shipping, real estate, and investment sectors.
The group said it was confident Lundetræ would drive further growth while maintaining the family-owned company’s values of trust and long-term collaboration.
