The Dutch government has pushed back the completion of the 2GW IJmuiden Ver Beta offshore wind farm by three years to 2032.
The developer of the project Zeevonk, a joint venture between Vattenfall and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, originally planned to complete the project by 2029.
However, delays in the construction of the Delta Rhine Corridor, a network of pipelines, conduits, and cables from Rotterdam to the German border, have also impeded the timeline for Ijmuiden Ver Beta.
As the corridor will be completed later than planned, it is no longer financially and economically feasible for the project to be completed within the current permit.
The revised plan sees the project constructed in two phases. The first 1GW phase is expected to come online in 2029, while the second will be completed in 2032. It is anticipated that the Delta Rhine Corridor will be completed around that time.
The project includes a floating solar farm designed for 50MW of capacity. The solar farm will start with a 6MW installation in 2028. Scaling up to the original 50MW will be done when and if conditions allow.
