Chinese bulker owner and operator Fujian Guohang Ocean Shipping has firmed up its series of kamsarmax newbuildings at compatriot Wuhu Shipyard.
The Beijing Stock Exchange-listed company has declared options on two additional 89,000 dwt vessels, bringing its orderbook at the yard to 10.
In 2023, Fujian Guohang secured slots for up to 10 methanol-ready units at the Anhui Province-based yard in a deal structured with four firm newbuilds, with deliveries in 2025 and 2026, and six optional ships. Options on four more vessels were exercised last year at a price tag of about $37m each.
The latest duo will, however, cost about $43.3m each and feature methanol dual-fuel engines, according to the stock exchange filing. Deliveries are set for 2027.
Fujian Guohang’s diversified bulker fleet, excluding those on order, stands at more than 10 ships, ranging from handysizes to kamsarmaxes. In addition to kamsarmaxes under construction at Wuhu, the company’s fleet expansion also includes ultramax and panamax units booked at Jiangsu Haitong Offshore Engineering Equipment.
