Singapore-based Transworld Group has acquired two 2,478 teu sister ships — Seaspan Loga and Seaspan Hannover — from Canadian shipowner Seaspan Corp, according to Alphaliner. The total transaction value is $27.5m, with Seaspan Loga sold for $13.2m and Seaspan Hannover for $14.3m.
The acquisition adds two larger feedermax vessels to Transworld’s growing portfolio, pushing its owned fleet to 16 containerships, now ranging from 650 teu to 2,478 teu in capacity. These newly acquired ships will serve as Transworld’s flagships.
The Seaspan Loga has already been renamed OEL Varun under Transworld’s ownership, while a new name for Seaspan Hannover is expected to be announced shortly. Both vessels remain on time charter to Maersk, operating on services linking the US east coast with Central America.
Built in 2006 by the now-defunct MTW shipyard in Wismar, Germany, both vessels were originally delivered for German shipowner Alfred Hartmann. Seaspan acquired the pair in 2018, reportedly paying around $10.5m per vessel at the time.
