Venergy Maritime, the Greece-based tanker newcomer led by Vyron Vasileiadis, has placed its first newbuilding order, contracting two MR product tankers at South Korea’s K Shipbuilding.
The firm order for the 50,000 dwt pair is for delivery in the first quarter of 2027, with each vessel priced at up to around $50m —a figure broadly in line with prevailing estimates for South Korean-built MR2s, according to market data.
The order marks a significant step forward for Venergy Maritime, which was founded in 2021 and only recently took delivery of its first ships. The company has already made headlines in the secondhand market, acquiring two 2018-built MR tankers—Captain Nikos and Captain Leon—reportedly for a combined $75m from Italy’s Premuda.
With these newbuildings, Venergy now controls a fleet of four modern, eco-efficient product tankers.
“With four new-generation tankers now under the Venergy Maritime banner, we are proud to deliver excellence at sea, today and tomorrow,” the company said in a recent statement on LinkedIn.
Headquartered in Piraeus, Venergy operates under the wider Vasileiadis Group of companies (V Group), which maintains a diversified footprint in port reception facilities, waste management, renewable energy, and alternative fuels.
