Norwegian offshore service provider Archer has won a contract from Equinor for the planning of permanent plug and abandonment of the Snorre UPA and Heidrun B and C templates.
Archer, assisted by its well engineering joint venture with Elemental Energies, will provide end-to-end services that encompass planning, well engineering, and the execution of permanent well abandonment.
A subsea template with ten well slots, Snorre UPA, is located centrally in the field and connected to Snorre A. Oil and gas from Snorre A is piped to the nearby Statfjord A platform for final processing.
The storage vessel Heidrun B has been permanently anchored at the Heidrun field since 2015.
“We look forward to collaborating closely with Equinor to ensure the successful execution of this project as we strongly believe in a model where we combine well barrier design with well service specialists and new solutions. This will drive down the cost for operators,” said Dag Skindlo, CEO of Archer.
