Duvenbeck Group has officially launched series operations with the new MAN eTGX Ultra Low Liner electric truck.

As an early adopter of this cutting-edge technology, Duvenbeck is among the first logistics providers to integrate the electrically powered truck into its operations, using it for the main transport route between its logistics hub in Herne and the Volkswagen factory in Wolfsburg.

“This means that the first BEV Lowliners with a loading height of three metres are running over a medium distance in our regional forwarding network for materials logistics and are proving their cost-effectiveness and suitability for everyday use,” explained Simon Motter, Head of Volkswagen Group Logistics.

Covering a round-trip distance of 320 kilometers, a single eTGX electric truck now operates on this route, relying on both public charging infrastructure and a dedicated charging station at Duvenbeck’s Herne handling center. At this facility, parts from various suppliers are consolidated into full truckloads before being transported to Wolfsburg.

“The increasing use of electric trucks, such as the MAN eTGX, forms a major part of Duvenbeck’s corporate strategy of implementing both sustainable and efficient logistics solutions. We will have 15 MAN eTGX Ultra Low Liner trucks in our fleet by the end of this month. The experience that we are gaining on the route day by day is playing an active part in helping us to further develop and promote sustainable logistics,” stated Hakan Bicil, the CEO of Duvenbeck.

Looking ahead, Duvenbeck and MAN have signed a letter of intent (LOI) to expand the fleet with up to 120 of these electric trucks.

Currently, the eTGX charges at public stations along the route as well as at Duvenbeck’s Herne site, with additional charging infrastructure at the company’s Peine location set to be completed this year. The deployment of MAN electric trucks aligns with Volkswagen’s ‘goTOzero impact logistics’ program, which focuses on reducing CO2 emissions in road transport.
