Hapag-Lloyd’s terminal and infrastructure division Hanseatic Global Terminals (HGT) has acquired a 60% stake in CNMP (Compagnie Nouvelle de Manutentions Portuaires), operator of Atlantique container terminal in Le Havre, France.
The remaining 40% of the shares in CNMP will continue to be held by temperature-controlled food logistics specialist Seafrigo Group.
Le Havre numbers among the 10 largest ports in Europe with an annual container throughput of 3m teu.
The throughput is expected to grow in the coming years, including in the reefer container business.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“By acquiring a majority stake in the CNMP terminal in Le Havre, we are strengthening our position in one of our core European markets. At the same time, we are continuing to expand our global terminal portfolio while paving the way for targeted investments to enhance efficiency. The transaction will therefore directly contribute to the vigorous realisation of our Strategy 2030,” said Dheeraj Bhatia, chief executive officer of Hanseatic Global Terminals.
Hanseatic Global Terminals manages 20 terminals in 11 countries and aims to increase this number to more than 30 by the end of this decade.
