Trelleborg Marine & Infrastructure, a provider of engineered polymer solutions for marine, infrastructure, and energy sectors, has partnered with Arkas Holding, a major player in Turkey’s maritime and logistics industry, to boost fleet performance and lower carbon emissions.

Trelleborg’s TSX5 shaft power system will be integrated into Arkas’ fleet performance software, enabling real-time monitoring and improvements in vessel operational efficiency.

Arkas Holding has launched a comprehensive fleet modernization project focused on enhancing operational efficiency, reducing carbon emissions, and meeting compliance standards across its large fleet. The partnership began with the delivery of five TSX5 systems to support Energy Efficiency Existing Ship Index (EEXI) compliance, paving the way for the installation of TSX5 on an additional 37 vessels.

By integrating Trelleborg’s TSX5 technology, Arkas is advancing towards its goal of a modernized fleet with improved efficiency and full compliance with the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) Carbon Intensity Indicator (CII) regulations, aimed at achieving net-zero carbon emissions in the shipping industry by 2050.

Trelleborg’s TSX5 system offers advanced features such as real-time monitoring of shaft power, torque, and RPM, along with over-torque alarms and cumulative power tracking. When equipped with a ShaPoLi alarming device, it ensures compliance with EEXI regulations.

Combined with fuel flow and speed data, the system provides operators with valuable insights to optimize energy efficiency, lower operational costs, reduce emissions, and ultimately improve the fleet’s bottom line.

“Trelleborg is proud to have partnered with Arkas Holding in their fleet modernization project. Our solution has enabled Arkas Holding to monitor its fleet’s performance in real time, allowing them to make data-driven decisions to improve operational efficiency and reduce carbon emissions. This collaboration highlights the pivotal role of advanced ship technology in shaping a more sustainable and profitable future for the maritime industry,” stated Richard Hepworth, Business Unit president, Trelleborg Marine and Infrastructure.
