AD Ports opens new inland dry port to enhance UAE logistics connectivity

AD Ports Group has announced the inauguration of a new custom-bound inland dry port facility, further strengthening Khalifa Port’s connectivity and enhancing logistics services across the UAE.

Strategically positioned between Abu Dhabi and Dubai, Al Faya Dry Port will function as an Inland Container Depot (ICD) linked to Khalifa Port via overland routes. This facility will serve as a transit terminal for trucks, enabling faster market access and more cost-effective cargo handling operations for Dubai and the Northern Emirates.

CMA CGM will be the first key client of Al Faya Dry Port, with plans to expand its services to other major shipping partners at Khalifa Port, including COSCO and MSC. Depending on market demand, additional ICDs may be established across Abu Dhabi in the future.

The launch of Al Faya Dry Port complements the commercial reach of CMA Terminals Khalifa Port, which was inaugurated in December 2024, facilitating efficient cargo distribution across the UAE.

Digitally integrated with Khalifa Port via Maqta Technologies’ Advanced Trade & Logistics Platform (ATLP), the new facility bridges the gap between the port and final cargo destinations. This integration enables CMA CGM and other operators at Khalifa Port to drive origin and destination (O&D) business. The truck terminal has an initial container capacity of 900 Twenty-Foot Equivalent Units (TEUs) but is designed for scalability based on demand.

Al Faya Dry Port marks another milestone in the growing collaboration between AD Ports Group and CMA CGM. This follows their recent shareholders’ agreement to jointly develop, manage, and operate the New East Mole multipurpose terminal in Pointe Noire, Congo-Brazzaville, under a 30-year extendable concession granted to AD Ports Group in June 2023.

Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, Managing Director and Group CEO of AD Ports Group, stated: “The opening of Al Faya Dry Port is not only a tangible example of our support to key commercial partners, but a sign of our commitment to raising the quality of supply chains across the UAE, which will benefit individuals and businesses across the country in line with the vision of our wise leadership. The ICD is another sign of our growing collaboration with our key strategic partner CMA CGM Group, both at home and abroad.”
